The ‘Stand on a Better World’ Awards

WHAT:
The 2007 “Stand On A Better World” Awards, presented by Mannington, a leading manufacturer of fine flooring. This awards program recognizes and celebrates women who “do the right thing” to make a difference in the lives of people and communities in America and around the globe.

WHO:
Any female citizen of the U.S. (and its territories) or Canada is eligible to be nominated. Thereare no age restrictions.

Tennis legend Billie Jean King and Deborah Roberts of ABC-TV’s “20/20” are among the judges for this year’s awards.

WHEN:
Nominations are accepted from April 1, 2007, until Aug. 1, 2007. Log on to www.StandOnABetterWorld.com to nominate an extraordinary woman you know. Winners will be announced in October 2007. The Stand On A Better World Awards ceremony will be held Nov. 15 in Philadelphia.

THE 2007 AWARD CATEGORIES:

LOCAL – The Local Award recognizes efforts from within a local neighborhood to across a single state or province. It celebrates the accomplishments of women who have overcome great challenges to create hope in neighborhoods and communities within their state.

NATIONAL – The National Award is presented for efforts that include more than one state or province, up to a national level. These nominees have taken their dream and made it relevant across many communities.

GLOBAL – The Global Award recognizes outreach that extends beyond national borders. These global visionaries have overcome the financial, political, logistical and organizational difficulties to offer aid to help the hungry, poor and disadvantaged in some of the most remote areas of the world.

THE “YOUR BETTER WORLD” AWARD – This year for the first time, the public gets to vote! From Aug.15 to Sept. 7, go to www.StandOnABetterWorld.com to read about this year’s finalists and cast a vote for the Your Better World Award.

HOW:
One winner will be chosen in each award category, and one of those three will be the grand-prize recipient, receiving $25,000 for the charity of her choice.
